URGENT: UNPAID MARCHING DEPOSITS!

The following students have not paid their marching band deposits as of today and are in danger of being dropped from next year’s marching band roster. $100 deposit MUST be received by Mr. Parisi (david.parisi@sarasotasherrif.org) NO LATER THAN FRIDAY in order for your student to have a drill spot in the show.

Financial arrangements can be discussed with him, however we MUST have some sort of commitment in order to put your student in the drill for next year.

IF YOU MISS FRIDAY’S DEADLINE UNFORTUNATELY IT WILL BE TOO LATE!!!!

Spring Concert Information 2018

Who: Jazz Two and Jazz One (1st and 7th Period Jazz Bands)
What: Spring Concert
When: Monday, May 14th 7:00pm
Where: NPHS Performing Arts Center
Dress: All students should wear their performance clothes that you wore for FBA Jazz MPA earlier in the year.

Tickets: $5 for adults, $3 for students, under 6 FREE. PLEASE ARRIVE AT 6PM TO GET YOUR TICKETS AS THERE IS USUALLY A LONG LINE! We want to start the concert on time 
I have complimentary ticket vouchers available if there is financial hardship- this is a fundraiser for the band all money collected goes to benefit the band! If vouchers are needed please have your student come to me ASAP so that EVERYONE can come and enjoy the concert!!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PLANNING:

1. Please note arrival times- I have staggered them to help with crowding in the bandroom. Rhythm section should plan to get there a little early to make sure everything is set correctly for the concert.
2. Jazz Two should warm up and tune on your own in the bandroom at 6:30pm I will bring you to the stage a few minutes before your performance.
3. Jazz One should report to the PAC audience area- sit together in the “stage right” front section of seats- sit all together. It would be great if you could all be there to support Jazz Two! Please make your way into the bandroom to warm up and tune on your own about 10minutes before your performance time. We will all go together to the stage for your performance.
4. After each band plays they will “rotate” to the audience. Jazz Two will sit in the “Stage Right” front seating area where the Jazz One was sitting.
5. Everyone is expected to stay for the whole concert. If you need to leave early, please let Dr. Bradley know in advance- we have all worked hard for this concert and we all deserve a great audience! For full credit for your performance, please turn in a concert program with your name on it. You will need to do this personally (hand it to Dr. Bradley on stage after the concert).
6. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE YOUR PERFORMANCE CLOTHES I CANNOT ALLOW YOU TO PERFORM AND IT WILL COUNT AGAINST YOUR GRADE. Everyone should have proper performance clothes since this is the last performance of the year.
7. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for students, 6 and under FREE. We charge admission as a fundraiser for the band. All proceeds go to support our band program. I DO NOT WANT ANYONE TO MISS THE CONCERT SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY CAN’T AFFORD TICKETS- please have your student get a ticket voucher from Dr. Bradley if there is a family financial hardship situation- we want EVERYONE to be able to attend!!!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PLANNING:

2. Concert band will get their instruments and sit in their regular seats in the band room (like class) we will go together to the stage after we warm-up.
3. Symphonic Band should report to the Bandroom room no later than 7:05pm. You will warm-up after the Concert band leaves the bandroom. You are expected to warm-up and tune on your own. You are expected to stay in the bandroom and be ready to go on stage 5 minutes before your performance time. Performance time is approximate, so please make sure you are in plenty of time in case we are a little early.
4. Wind Ensemble should report to the PAC audience area- sit together in the “stage right” front section of seats- sit all together. It would be great if you could all be there to support the Concert and Symphonic bands! Please make your way into the bandroom to warm up and tune on your own about 15minutes before your performance time. We will all go together to the stage for your performance.

Leadership Interest Meeting

LEADERSHIP INTEREST MEETING FOR 2018-19 ALLIANCE LEADERSHIP

Music and Theatre Scholarship Auditions Set for April 21 at SCF, Manatee-Sarasota

(Bradenton, Fla., April 17, 2018) — Budding musicians and thespians interested in studying their craft at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) are invited to audition for music and theatre scholarships on April 21 in SCF’s Neel Performing Arts Center, 5840 26th St. W.

Music scholarships are available for Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Musical Theatre Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble, Jazz Big Band, Jazz Combo, Keyboard, Symphonic Band and SCF Bradenton Symphony Orchestra. Theatre scholarships are available for acting and technical theatre. Full tuition waiver scholarships in the amount of $5,000 are available for students who are chosen for the Presidential String Quartet, Presidential Jazz Quartet or Presidential Pianist. Students do not have to be music or theatre majors to receive ensemble scholarships.

Auditions, which begin at 9 a.m., are by appointment and can be scheduled by calling April Sheely at 941-752-5351 or emailing SheelyA@SCF.edu. Symphonic Band– Boys: White tux shirt, Black tux pants, black bowtie and black cummerbund black dress shoes and black dress socks.  Girls: Black floor-length, scoop-neck, half-sleeve (at least) dress, black dress shoes (not too high), and black hose.

Wind Ensemble– Boys: Black tux jacket, white tux shirt, black bowtie, black cummerbund, black dress shoes, black dress socks.  Girls: Black floor-length, scoopneck, half-sleeve (at least) dress, black dress shoes (not too high), and black hose.

After School– Band room will be open, BUT there will be bands sight reading all evening. Please plan ahead to arrive early enough to get your instrument without disturbing the sight-reading process. PLEASE DO NOT ENTER WHILE THE BAND IS PREPARING TO SIGHT READ OR WHILE THEY ARE PLAYING. Wait till the judge is completely done and their band is dismissed to enter, and then get your stuff quickly and quietly!

4:00pm–         Warm-up (Dance room 2-119)

4:30pm–         CONCERT BAND performance at FBA Concert MPA

5:00pm–         CONCERT BAND Sightreading. After we are done sightreading so make sure you put your instrument and music away before you leave.

You are dismissed after sight reading. If you are going to stay and watch bands please stay out of the bandroom and music building classrooms and hallways!

Information for Jazz One Gig @ Jazz Club of Sarasota

 

Who:     7th period jazz band

What:   Performance at Jazz Club of Sarasota Event

When:  Sunday, Feb. 18th 12noon to 1pm

Where: Phillippi Estates Park at 5500  S. Tamiami Trail Sarasota, FL 34231

Dress:   All Black (top and bottom)

Transportation:       You are responsible for your own transportation to and from the event.

 

Sunday, Feb. 18th

10am–   Bandroom opens to load equipment on trailer and to get your instruments and music.

10:45am–  Depart NPHS for Phillipi Estates Park.

11:30am–   Appoximate arrival at Phillipi Estates Park. Unload and begin setup.

12:00pm–  Performance begins

1:00pm–     Approximate end of performance, tear down and load trailer

1:45pm–     Approximate time of arrival @NPHS. Unload trailer and put away equipment and instruments.

You are dismissed after everything is put away.

NOTES:

  • This is an outside performance. You will need to bring tape or clothes pins, etc. to secure your music to the stand.
  • We will be under a gazebo, however it will be sunny and hot. Plan ahead. Bring water with you.
  • We will need to transport chairs and stands as well as instruments and other equipment.
  • Set list will be determined in class.
